Recently it was revealed that come the beginning of November the price of cardboard is set to rise. The main cause of this is the paper mills and not the cardboard manufacturers, or cardboard converters such as Wessex Packaging (Salisbury.)
This latest announcement means a further 8.25% increase in the price of cardboard will take effect, bringing the increase total up for the last year to 62.5%. This is down to the paper industry suffering since 2005 with over-capacity and insufficient price levels. Recently the earthquake in Chile had a significant impact on the global pulp supply as Chile accounts for almost a quarter of world production.
