This month we’re all very busy at Wessex Packaging HQ and have taken our first large order from Pepperl & Fuchs in Birmingham. Pepperl & Fuchs is a leading developer and manufacturer of electronic sensors and components for the global automation market so need reliable and knowledgeable bespoke packaging company to ship their products.
In other news in the packaging industry; some of Britain’s best known food brands are changing their packaging due to health concerns over boxes made from recycled packaging. Scientists have discovered that toxic chemicals from recycled newspapers used in cardboard packaging could be contaminating food.
This month has seen one of largest packaging companies increasing their recycling efforts in a bid to save money. Food and agricultural packaging firm British Polythene Industries (BPI) is stepping up the amount of recycling it currently does as the increase in the price of raw materials and the rising oil prices has meant that many packaging manufacturers such as BPI are feeling the pinch. The Chief Executive said “We have decided to accelerate our planned investment in recycling equipment for both in-house and post-use polythene films. At current polymer prices investment in recycling should deliver very good returns and act as a hedge against continuing price increases.”
